Beauty Salon hours/services

It is located on the main floor of the Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence. The services are available to patients at a reasonable rate and the hairdresser will come to the unit if the patient is unable to get out of bed for an additional cost. The hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, excluding holidays. For rate information and to make an appointment with the hair stylist or barber, please contact the unit coordinator at ext. 3603.

Cafeteria

The Season’s Café is located on the A wing, 1st floor (the floor just below the main entrance) of Providence Hospital. It features a range of healthy, delicious and nutritious meals, snacks, hot and cold beverages, including fresh salads, and a chef’s hot table. The cafeteria serves food from Monday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Visitors and patients are welcome outside these hours and are welcome to use the space 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Please note there are vending machines on D1. If you are interested in having the Seasons Café cater a birthday or special occasion, please contact the manager at 416-285-3666, ext. 3767.

Tim Hortons

Tim Hortons is located at the main entrance of Providence Hospital. Baked goods, bagels, breakfast sandwiches, wraps, oatmeal and yogurt/berries etc. are available. A “grab and go” section stocked by our cafeteria contains soups, sandwiches, chopped fruits, eggs, hummus/ crackers and salads etc. Tim Hortons is open Monday to Friday from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekends.

Scotiabank Learning Centre

The multi-faceted resource centre is for patients and caregivers learning to cope with life-altering illnesses. All services are free-of-charge. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment by calling 416-285-3666, ext. 4177.

Patient Meals

The goal of the Food Services department is to provide prompt and friendly service and deliver nutritious and balanced meals. A Registered Dietitian or Diet Technician will assess the nutritional needs of our patients upon admission.

Meals are served during the following times:

Breakfast – 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
Lunch – 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Dinner – 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Laundry

There is a washing machine/dryer on D1 for families to use. Please bring your own high efficiency (HE) detergent.

Visiting hours

We welcome family and friends for visiting according to the wishes of our patients. Visitors who are on site between 8:30 p.m. and 7 a.m. must sign the visitor logbook at the D3 nursing station and wear a visitor sticker at all times. Please keep your voices low to respect the needs of our patients who are trying to rest after 8:30 p.m.

Room Availability

Three different types of rooms are available: ward, semi-private and private accommodation. Please visit our admitting department at the main entrance if you have any questions regarding your insurance coverage or bed availability.

TV/Telephone

The Hospitality Network is contracted by Providence to provide television rental, cable assess and telephone services. To arrange for either the telephone or television services, or to inquire about rental fees, please call 416-285-3675. Alternatively, you can complete an order form, available on each floor in the hospital, and then deposit the form in the order stand. Please check with the hospitality network to inquire about a discounted rate.

Parking

There are several parking spaces reserved for visitors to Palliative Care, located just outside the D1 entrance. The parking payment machine is conveniently located on D1. For information on rates and packages, visit www.providence.on.ca/patients-visitors/getting-here/parking

Pet Policy

Providence Healthcare recognizes the value of pets and pet visitation in the recovery and quality of life of our patients, residents and clients. Upon arrival at the facility, pet handlers are expected to sign in. The sign-in book is available at the nursing station. After signing in, pet handlers will receive materials outlining their responsibilities, and our expectations during visitation. They will also receive a sticker, which is to be worn for the duration of the pet visitation.
