I'm Walking For Granny
Jun 27, 2018

On September 9, Providence will be celebrating Grandparents’ Day with a “Walk, Run & Roll-a-thon”. I’ll be walking with my “grand-dog”, Henri (because I don’t have grandchildren), and I will also be walking to show my love for my Dad, who is an amazing grandfather for my two daughters (Dad won’t be at the event because he is on a four-month trip – at 90-years-old he will be kayaking in the Arctic). But most of all, I will be walking to honour my maternal grandmother, Dorothy Scott – Granny.

If you could make a small donation to help a long-term care resident be safer, more comfortable and maybe even healthier, would you do it? Providence Healthcare is raising funds for our long-term care home – Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence – to speed up the replacement of our 288 residents’ beds. We are buying bedframes and controls that are the new safety standard and mattresses that improve sleep and reduce pain and bed sores.

Planned giving isn’t just for the wealthy!
May 23, 2018

Many people mistakenly believe you have to be wealthy to leave a planned gift. That couldn’t be further than the truth! In fact, about 10 per cent of Canadian adults include planned gifts in their Wills, and it is a growing trend. Regardless of the size of the estate (the total of the money and property held by a person), planned gifts can be arranged in a way to maximize tax benefits and the donation available to the charity.

Planning your Legacy
May 16, 2018

George Cobham Sr. has arranged to provide for Providence Healthcare in his Will to honour his mother and continue her legacy. George’s mother volunteered at Providence when he was growing up as the youngest child in a family of six children. “While my mother always had time for me and my siblings, she also made time for her beloved Catholic Women’s League work and Providence….She saw how Providence could assist those who were less fortunate and were struggling with life’s challenges, and yet they were treated with dignity and with the utmost care and respect.”
