In honour of Volunteer Week, we extend a heartfelt thank you to all of our selfless and generous volunteers. The work we do to support our patients, residents and clients would not be possible without their contributions of time, talent and treasure.
Here’s a few of our incredible volunteers and the reasons why they give back to Providence Healthcare Foundation.
Meet Kate: an inspiring volunteer, an integral member of our Stewardship Committee and always willing to lend a helping hand.
This is why Kate chooses to volunteer with us: “I’ve learned over time that small acts can make significant differences to help others and that is such an amazing feeling to experience. That to me is the very essence of volunteering at Providence Healthcare Foundation, there are so many ways to help and so many needs. The Foundation staff have made it easy to discover where I could fit in and it has been an honour to be involved with Providence over the years.”
Judy is an incredible volunteer and a key member of the Silver Ball Planning Committee at Providence.
"Since I was a young girl growing up in Scarborough, Providence has always been a respected hospital providing a place of strength and hope for patients and their families. I know many members of our community who have benefited from the care Providence has given them. Whether it is rehabilitation or palliative care, the staff, volunteers and patients create an energy of love and healing. I volunteer with Providence Healthcare Foundation to help support the passion of those frontline workers and volunteers who make it their life to help, care and heal at Providence. More than ever before, Strength means Love, Strength means Caring and Strength means Community."
Meet Michael, a hardworking Foundation volunteer. We asked him why he volunteers with the Foundation:
"I volunteer with Providence Healthcare because of the impact they are making in the community. Providence represents the “Little Giant” that could and I wanted to be part of this. To me, strength is perseverance, the ability to overcome any and all challenges and shining a light on everybody that continues to make a difference in people’s lives."
Meet Glenys: she’s a devoted volunteer, a WIPP member and a member of our Providence Golf Classic and Silver Ball Planning Committees at Providence.
"I volunteer at Providence because we are all part of a global community and we should all give to each other and help others as much as possible. Providence is such a wonderful and caring facility and deserves all the support that we are able to provide.
To me, strength is the willingness to work towards our goals despite any adversities that may block our path."
We want to say THANK YOU to our volunteers. We are fortunate to have so many volunteers support the Foundation in different ways over the year, from our Executive Volunteers: members of our Board and Executive Committees (over 150 members), signature event volunteers, and many more! Your contributions make a real difference for the Providence Healthcare community.
On behalf of the Foundation team, we celebrate and acknowledge your help. Thank you!
