On June 7, 2017, over 50 donors and new friends of Providence enjoyed an evening of entertainment with Soulpepper Theatre to expand awareness and support for Providence Healthcare.
Hosted by Raj Kothari, Vice Chair & Managing Partner-GTA at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Kevin Dougherty, President of Sun Life Financial & Chair of Providence Healthcare Foundation, this evening was a night to remember at Navin and Sarla Chandaria’s stunning home in the prestigious Bridle Path. Guests enjoyed delicious food from Gourmade Thyme and wine generously donated by Ghost Pines, as they witnessed an incredible performance by the talented musicians of Soulpepper Theatre.

A Journey from Start to Finish
Unlike the many fundraisers hosted by Providence Healthcare Foundation, this event was designed as a “Friendraiser”. By definition, this is when a group of friends come together to enjoy fellowship and create awareness about a particular organization and the charitable impact they make.
Our goal was to create an opportunity to mix old friends with new and raise awareness for the great work being done at Providence Healthcare. After all, we are right in the back yard of our guests! Those who attended had the privilege of listening to Don Ross, a former rehab patient, who shared his difficult and emotional journey to recovery. Don beat incredible odds of survival, coming through a storm that most thought was not possible to endure. Don’s moving testimony was a stark reminder of the impact Providence can have on the lives of our patients and residents. According to Don, Providence “gave him back his life”, which is why he continues to give back to Providence by sharing his story and volunteering his time.
Soulpepper also took us on a journey, sharing the musical sounds of New York City and the musical influences of many genres over the years. Under the leadership of musical genius Mike Ross, we heard everything from Bob Dylan to Janis Joplin. We weren’t ready to close the final curtain when the last song ended…
Providence is fortunate to have a wide network of passionate and generous supporters who continue to grow the Providence Family. This event was a unique example of how donors can raise awareness and funds in their own way while expanding our network and fundraising capabilities.
