Connection and Support at the Adult Day Program

Our Adult Day Program at Providence Healthcare is a special place. It’s like family. People bring their loved ones with dementia to our programs to make sure they find connection, support and care in their daily lives.

In light of the growing COVID-19 pandemic, we have made the difficult decision to suspend programming. We are doing this to keep our clients, our staff and the community safe.

Through tears of joy and gratitude, the families we advocate for every day, are simultaneously advocating for us, to ensure that we too are safe. Kudos to our ADP team and a big thank you to ALL of our Providence Healthcare staff for your continued efforts during times like these, and always.

Strength is. Connection.
Strength is. Our staff.
Strength is. Providence.

14 New Specialized Mattresses Donated To Providence

On Friday, March 20th, we asked for critical donations to purchase 14 new, specialized mattresses for Providence Healthcare. The hospital needs these mattresses so it can take in more patients, relieving some of the pressure on our acute care partners.

WE DID IT! We raised the critical funds to purchase 14 new mattresses in just 3 days. Old friends and new answered our call to help Providence: former and current Providence Healthcare Governing Board Members, Committee Members, and partners. Whether a long-standing or brand-new supporter, thank you to everyone who gave, for showing your commitment to Providence Healthcare in our time of need.

Victor Wurster is gifted the Strength is. bracelet

We took a few moments on Friday, March 27th to recognize one of our many hardworking Providence Healthcare staff during these difficult times. Victor Wurster is an RPN in Providence's Palliative Care Unit. He was gifted a Strength is. bracelet from a generous donor.

Victor's manager praised his incredible work with patients: "It is not uncommon that patients and family members comment on how kind, patient, and caring Victor is. We had an urgent patient situation that was time sensitive which Victor approached in a manner that allowed the patient and family to be at ease. His focus is always on the care and well-being of our patients."

Thank you Victor for all that you do!

Mobile Meditation Studio Visits Providence During Mental Health Week

For Mental Health Week (May 4-8), our long-time supporter and friend of the Foundation, MeditationWorks brought in a vintage 1972 Airstream to Providence Healthcare. On May 6, they broadcasted free meditations every 15 minutes for two hours to help staff, patients and residents relax, unwind and recharge.

CTV Toronto was at Providence to chat with healthcare workers about the mobile meditation experience. You can find the article here and video coverage here (go to 35:18 for the two minute clip).

CBC News also provided excellent coverage. You can find the video clip here.

Founded by Traci Shepheard, MeditationWorks Mindstream is a mobile wellness experience, that’s purpose is to deliver mindful meditation to provide people with better focus, health, resilience, and positively affecting stress. Thank you for this thoughtful donation to Providence!

Kudos to Palmer Audio and Ryan Brenton for donating their time and equipment for the Airstream audio setup.

Providence COVID-19 Relief Fund

Providence Healthcare is acting as a vital resource during the outbreak – providing patient flow relief for our acute care hospitals, freeing up much needed urgent-care hospital beds. This means we need to bring on additional staff, increase specialized care and provide greater infection control…to name a few of the extra measures we are putting in place.

We are humbly asking YOU for your help! We’ve setup a dedicated COVID-19 relief fund that you can support by donating here.

Thank you for taking a moment to help!
