Providence Cornerstone – Providence is a Lifetime Commitment: Jennifer Stewart, President & CEO of the Providence Healthcare Foundation

May 14, 2020

Jennifer Stewart has been the President and CEO of Providence Healthcare Foundation for 20 years. During her tenure, she has been a critical part of the fabric of Providence, working with our incredible donors to make a real impact for Providence - from the transformational $16 Million Hope Starts Here Campaign to a $5 Million Endowment for the Houses of Providence, and everything in between and since.

To know Jenn is to know passion – and that is why we’re excited, and a little saddened, to share that Jennifer has taken on the role of Chief Development Officer at the Arthritis Society of Canada, a cause near and dear to her heart. Her mother suffers from chronic arthritis, and Jenn has made it her personal mission to fundraise for a cure and treatments for this painful disease. And if anyone can do it, she can.

While Jennifer hates the spotlight, we wanted to share a special moment of recognition for her as she transitions to her new role, to thank her for her years of service to Providence, and to share this bittersweet news with you – our supporters!

Jennifer’s favourite phrase is “Providence is a lifetime commitment.” And she absolutely means it.

Jennifer has made a gift of life insurance to Providence, pioneering a new way of creating an incredibly deep impact at Providence as part of her estate plans. This makes her a Pillar of Providence.

Giving a gift of insurance is a simple and meaningful way to truly magnify the power of your donations.

Why simple? By purchasing a life insurance policy in your name, for Providence (or by designating Providence as a beneficiary of an already existing policy), the cost of your giving decreases, while the impact of your gift increases!

For example – a couple in their 40s can make a $100,000 gift to Providence by purchasing a $20,000 insurance policy (payable over 10 years – just $2,000 per year) – and the premiums are fully tax-deductible.

If you’re doing the math, after your tax rebate, it can cost as low as $10,000 (or $1,000 per year) for this couple to make a $100,000 gift as part of their estate plans.

Like Jennifer, we hope you consider Providence an important part of your life and will consider joining her as our newest Pillar of Providence. You can contact us at any time for a quote on your own policy for Providence!

Please join us in thanking her for all that she’s done for the staff, patients, residents, clients, families, donors, partners and volunteers of Providence Healthcare.
