On Wednesday, June 19, Providence Healthcare Foundation held its annual Men Advancing Philanthropy for Providence (MAPP) voting meeting at the Toronto Hunt Club, where employees pitched their project ideas to MAPP donors in the hopes of being selected for funding.
The men were presented with four innovative $100,000 proposals and selected one project to fund that will improve client rehabilitation at Providence Healthcare:
Hands Up! - Congratulations to Stacey Connors, Katrina Hill & Joyce Lee!
The Hands Up! Project includes the purchase of the most up-to-date, research-based technology and advanced training for occupational therapists in Providence’s three stroke units. Such treatment tools will help stroke clients achieve improved arm and hand function and enhance their quality of life.
Special thanks to Chiara Campitelli-Thompson, Jacqueline Wiley, Jessica Casey, Julia Filinski, Lynne Mycyk, Sofia da Silva and Faye Roberts who worked very hard to create great proposals.
Update on last year’s project – Simulation Lab Program
MAPP donors also received an update on the $100,000 project they voted to support last year – the Simulation Lab Program. Now open in the Knowledge Centre, this space boasts a brand new control room, clinical area, skills training area and multiple patient simulators to meet the training needs of staff and students at Providence Healthcare. This newly dedicated space has been refurnished with innovative technology and state-of-the-art equipment to enable staff to learn and practice new or complicated skills, improve patient safety outcomes, enable solutions to be identified and implemented effectively.
