The holiday spirit was strong on December 6th as over 90 WIPP donors and guests gathered at The Lodge on Queen for a celebration like no other. It was the perfect combination of holiday shopping, great cocktails, and close friends gathering to unwind before the busy holiday season.
Thanks to the support and generosity of our donors, guests and vendors, this event raised over $2,000 (net) with funds still rolling in to support of the vulnerable patients and residents at Providence Healthcare.
Providence Moment ~ Caring for Caregivers
We were joined by a special guest, Shireen Ali, who couragously shared her experience at Providence when her grandfather was in Palliative Care. According to Shireen, “The care my grandfather experienced at Providence was amazing. The staff went above and beyond to not only care for him, but also for my grandmother, me, and the rest of our family. Life didn’t end as soon as my grandfather came to palliative care. We kept making memories with him at Providence until the very end.”
Since Shireen’s grandfather passed, Providence has opened a new Palliative Care unit which provides more family spaces including overnight suites, a dining room, a business centre, a multi-faith space, laundry room and more! These spaces reflect what our staff already knew; Palliative Care is about families as much as it is about patients. In 2014, WIPP became an integral part of this campaign by granting $100,000 to fund one of the overnight family suites in Palliative Care.
Thank you for supporting WIPP!
This event was made possible through the generosity of sponsors, TOS Unlimited and National Bank of Canada. Thank you for your support in hosting a cost neutral event to ensure our donor dollars can be dedicated solely to a project of their choice.
