In celebration of Canada's 150th birthday, we are trailblazing care like true Canadians!
Jun 23, 2017
2017 marks the 160th anniversary of Providence Healthcare. Since our founding in 1857, we have come to be recognized as innovators and trailblazers in Canadian health care. We have developed an innovative model of patient flow and care that seamlessly supports the journey from hospital to home for every patient we treat. In fact, average hospital stays for our rehab patients decreased from 76 days in 2008 to only 29 days in 2016! This means an extra 45 days at HOME for our patients.
We are always exploring new ideas to enhance extraordinary care. In keeping with that theme, we are turning to those in our community to help us take wound healing to new heights during the month of June!Imagine being able to speed up wound healing time! Here's how!
The introduction of a highly innovative technology called E-stim (Electrical Stimulation)
will allow us to accelerate closure of open skin wounds that are slow to heal, such as pressure injuries, diabetic foot ulcers, and leg wounds. This advanced protocol will make wounds 30% smaller after only 4 weeks, with a complete heal by week 12! Without this technology, wounds can take up to three times as long to heal.
The Price Tag of Innovation
✔️ Increases quality of life
✔️ Proven to accelerate wound healing
✔️ Shorter hospital stays
✔️ Reduces pain
To effectively break health care barriers with this valuable technology, it means we have to purchase the necessary equipment, provide staff education and training, update patient care forms, develop wound audit tools, stock disposable supplies, and more. This purchase will allow Providence Healthcare to provide therapy throughout a patient’s stay and for many patients over the years to come!
The total cost to implement this new wound healing process is $10,000… a small price tag for a big change in patient recovery. There are two pertinent devices required to make this happen. The Quadstar Elite does the electrical estimation based on the majority of patient wounds and aids in pain relief. The GV-350 is designed specifically for deep open wounds.
There's strength in numbers! So what are you waiting for?
Gather your friends, co-workers, family, and neighbours to pool together and join our charge of Canadian trailblazers making a BIG IMPACT in the lives of our patients.
