Toronto’s Longest Running Gala Turns 20

Oct 30, 2013

The 2013 Silver Ball, sponsored by Sun Life Financial, marks a milestone this year — its 20th year raising funds in support of Providence Healthcare, a leader in rehabilitation, palliative and long-term care, as well as community-based programs and clinics that promote recovery, good health and well-being. This is Toronto’s longest running gala.

“When we started the Silver Ball 20 years ago, it was a small intimate fundraiser,” says Josie Walsh, President and CEO of Providence Healthcare. “Now, over 700 guests attend, coming together in the spirit of community, compassion and caring to support our staff and the wonderful work they do. It’s uplifting to be a part of it.”

The gala will raise $700,000 to support the urgent needs of Providence and the completion of priority projects such as Transformation by Design, a multi-year solution to Ontario’s patient flow crisis.

“Sun Life Financial is pleased to sponsor this year’s Silver Ball to celebrate 20 years of raising funds that make a difference in the lives of so many patients and their families by supporting wellness in our communities,” says Kevin Dougherty, President, Sun Life Financial Canada.
