Our local Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 617, visited us for a tour of our Hospital and to see first-hand how the funds they raise make a difference in the lives of the patients we care for each day. At the end of the tour, the President of Branch 617, Sharon Butler, along with Joyce Geddes, First Vice President and Deputy District Commander, presented our President and CEO, Josie Walsh, with a cheque for $6,500 from the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Command Charitable Foundation to support our Palliative Care program and the purchase of a ‘low bed’ for patients in the unit (a low bed is lower than a regular hospital bed for patients to sit and have their feet touch the floor. It helps to increase their independence and safety. Having the bed height match to a patient’s height helps both the patient and staff).
What an honour it is for us at Providence to have such a great supporting partner as our Royal Canadian Legion! We look forward to continuing our work together with the Legion for the betterment of the communities we proudly serve.
