In June, Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario (CHSO) presented its first Living the Mission Award to Providence Healthcare’s Sister Mary Anne McCarthy.
CHSO established the award to recognize people or teams from its member organizations that have made a significant contribution over a sustained period of time to the advancement of Catholic healthcare in Ontario.
A Sister of St. Joseph of Toronto, Sister Mary Anne has been the Director of Mission and Values at Providence for over 12 years. She was selected by the CHSO’s Mission Award Committee for the impact she has made inspiring the staff at Providence to embrace and live the mission and values of the organization in their day-to-day work. Her passion for the mission of Catholic health care and her ability to articulate its value also contributed to the Committee’s decision.
“We introduced this award to honor those who have supported and mentored others, carried the mission to the next generation of leaders, and is a beacon of servant leadership,’ says CHSO President and CEO John Ruetz. “Sister Mary Anne’s nomination stood out from a strong field of nominees due to the deep impact she has had across the entire Providence Healthcare organization.”
Adds Providence’s President and CEO Josie Walsh, “Sister Mary Anne is a trusted advisor and she keeps our decision-making rooted in our core values. She raises sensitive opinions with maturity and common sense.”
Congratulations Sister Mary Anne!
