The Ken & Nancy Shaw Providence Golf Classic, presented by Premier Mobility celebrates its 20th anniversary on August 25. The annual fundraiser has become one of the city’s best golf tournaments thanks to the support of local golfers, sponsors, donors and volunteers.
“Over the years, our memories at this event are countless and fondly remembered,” says Ken Shaw, CTV Co-Anchor and honorary co-chair of the event along with his wife, Nancy. “What a great way to spend the day golfing on an exceptional course with treasured friends, family and Providence Healthcare supporters.”
This year’s tournament takes place at Coppinwood Golf Club, a golfer’s paradise on 357 acres of rolling terrain in the midst of quiet farm country, with Providence ‘orange’ jackets for our winners. The evening dinner reception features a wide variety of silent auction items for guests to bid on in support of Providence, a leader in providing rehabilitation, palliative and long-term care, as well as community-based programs and clinics that promote recovery, good health and well-being.
Twenty years on and still going strong, the Providence Golf Classic continues to grow in size and in its fundraising goal, expecting to raise $180,000 (net of all expenses).
“For two decades, this tournament has helped raise funds that allow Providence staff to provide transformative care to the patients, residents, clients and families who count on our teams to comfort them on their journey,” says Jennifer Stewart, President and CEO, Providence Healthcare Foundation. “The success of this event is thanks to our sponsors, organizing committees, guests and volunteers who continue to come together to make an important difference for Providence.”
