Family & Caregiver Support

We help each other. Some of us have lost our husbands, some have been caregivers for many years, while others are just learning to cope. Knowing you’re not alone is one of the greatest supports, and being able share with women who understand what you’re going through is so important.

Shirley Townsend - Caregiver

At Providence, we recognize that in order for our patients, residents and clients to thrive and flourish, we must also support the people caring for them at home: their families.

We offer formal support programs through our Scotiabank Learning Centre to families caring for people with illnesses and chronic conditions such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, dementia, arthritis and Parkinson’s.

The group meets in our Scotiabank Learning Centre to discuss the emotional, physical and financial stresses associated with caregiving. Sessions are also held monthly for spouses, as well as sons and daughters.
